In a press release issued by BOOST this morning, the organization (Business Owners Organized to Support Tourism) made a last minute pleas to Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes and Myrtle Beach Area Chamber Chairman Brad Branham to 'waive secrecy with regard to ethics investigations and campaign financing'.
“We have real concerns about what Mayor Rhodes, Chairman Branham and their cronies have to hide." said spokesman Tom Herron, "Why do they insist on keeping any ethics complaints secret? Is it because a complaint has been filed with allegations they want to keep secret until after the election?"
"There are lots of missing details, but only one overriding question,” Herron said, “Where did this massive influx of money really come from? The Sun News report today of $200,000 in spending for this election is low – way low. Funds raised or spent since October 1st have not yet been reported ... to say nothing of the tens of thousands of dollars being poured into vicious attack ads by mysterious so-called political action groups.”
The press release continued to question where why the chamber continuing to hide information about 'massive campaign contributions' made to local and state incumbents.
Herron said, "If the Chamber and Mayor Rhodes have nothing to hide, why have they circled the wagons? Why the continued secrecy and threats against any and all critics? Why do they keep shooting the messenger?...Why not offer the same transparency about where it’s Chairman got more than $324,000 in campaign donations?”
An attorney for Branham, who originally sent a letter to BOOST to refrain from speaking about him and his business dealings, has yet to make a public statement in response to BOOST return letter stating they would not stop asking questions.

I was watching news 13 WMBF today and in a two hour period I seen 3 different adds attacking McBride and like maybe every other ad saying John Rhodes has helped revitalize Myrtle Beach. This is so not true. They were also 3 ads attacking mcbride. What made me so mad is that the station will play everything for rhodes and let them attack mcbride but et dont do anything for mcbride? Of the 10 issues they reported on. 9 of them are over 15 years old. Only one is younger and it was when one of his business failed in '06. I taped the ads and read the fine print on the bottom and looked them up and some of them were dropped including the fight in town hall meeting back in 1990. I swear John Rhodes is too damn old to be running for mayor and I have over 100 GAY GUYS AND LESBIANS WHO I KNOW THROUGH ONLINE THAT WILL NOT VOTE FOR Rhodes but will vote for MCBRIDE. GO MCBRIDE BOOO OLD FART RHODES. LOL. Well one other thing on his ad they say hes done so much including start the pier. Hasnt this pier been in the process for 10 years? Or at least before he became mayor. If I could vote in myrtle I would but I do not live in city limits. But no wonder everyone hates the man so. Hes a complete ignorant #$&@*&!. IM SORRY RAYMOND BUT DONT CENSOR THIS. I WANT THEM TO READ WHAT A MAD CITIZEN HAS TO SAY AND TRY TO REBUT WHAT THEY HAVE SAID AGAINST MCBRIDE.

Sorry, Rodney. Its a family friendly board and the language has to go.
In all fairness to the news stations- They are paid to run ads. They ads your seeing are not designed by the stations. They are endorsed by the candidates or special groups.
Mr. McBride addressed the negative ads at an event last night. The attack ads have not been run by any of the candidates. They have been run by two other groups. However, McBride stated that current Mayor John Rhodes has not come out to denounce the ads.
